More Links, Better Ranking in Search Engines!

from: Azani

You have a great full content of web site that you have submitted the URL to every search engines available. Your web site's META tags are also completed with descriptions, keyword and robot instructions. You think your web site is better then your competitors. But... unfortunately, your site is still lying in the dark site of those search engine. Means, your page ranking is not on the first, second or the third page when certain phrase about your web site was search by the search engine. What is wrong? Hmm... Ok, go to google.com and type "link:www.yoursite.com", where is "link:" is a command to list down any incoming link. Note down how many web sites have your link from theirs. Now type "link:www.yourcompetitor.com", who have better ranking than you. How many incoming links they have? I think you got the picture now.

Yes, in order to get a better or higher ranking in search engines particularly in Google you must get more incoming links from other web site. Search Engine Optimizer (SOE) refer this as "Link Popularity". More links you get means higher ranking in search engine's search result. Usually, you do not need to submit your URL to search engine manually to be listed, you only need to be linked by other web site. The search engine robot will crawl from site to site by available link. If it found new web site that did not listed yet, it will index it. So, I think get more links is the most important thing to do to expose your web site to the world.

How to improve link popularity?

You must be very careful in getting links. Do not involve in "Links-For-All" repository scheme, which do more harm than good for your web site. They were design especially for getting high ranking, which sometime violate the Term of Service of search engines. The search have a mechanism to differentiate between the good and the bad links. If caught, sorry, your web site will be in great trouble for a very long time.

The best way to get link is by visit a certain web site and email the web master to exchange link. Type a keyword or a phrase related to your web site, write down web page ranking below 15. Choose the web site carefully. List down web site that is only matched with your web site's theme.Visit their web site one by one then get thier web master email, and email them personally asking for link exchange. Be very careful when write an email for asking for reciprocal link. You would not want your email is labeled as spam, wouldn't you?

Why only web site rank below 15? This is because I personally think these website will not ignore your email because they themselves want to exchange link with other web site to get to the top 10 in search engine. For a better result, create a new page especially for exchanged links. Add those URL links in this page, and only after that invite other webmasters to exchange link. But do not put more then 20 links in a page. If the webmaster do not want to exchange link, delete his link from your page. Do not forget to record your progress. Verify links on reciprocating web pages and check for dead links every week. You will increase your link popularity, improve your position in search engine and soon watch the number of visitors coming to your web site grow every day.
